Kenes International announces the opening of our new waste management centre outside its technical and administrative offices in Israel featuring the country’s first operational solar and turbine lighting system
Tel Aviv, Israel – August 10, 2009 - Understanding our commitment to positively take steps to reduce, reuse, and recycle the “Kenes Goes Green” initiative was launched culminating with the inauguration of a fully-equipped waste management centre outside our technical and administrative offices.
Thanks to measures such as state-of-the-art energy and water saving devices undertaken already at our various global offices we are delighted that many of our company initiatives are proving to be very popular amongst our staff with many of them taking up the challenge in their personal and home lives.
One such initiative, a central feature of the waste management center, is the manufacture of compost using our food waste. This action is proving so popular that a workshop has been formed to instruct our staff how to make their own organic compost at home!
Our challenge now is to further our development of producing Green Congresses ─ this challenge includes reducing shipping by purchasing locally whenever possible, adding green criteria in venue selection, and drafting ecological purchasing guidelines for both office and congress use.
This is the aim – to lead by example. We will continue to move forward with groundbreaking initiatives such as our waste management center further emphasizing our company philosophy that Kenes Cares for our Planet.
